A Bridge to the Customer built by Data Elektronik

Data Electronik offers printing solutions for RFID labels, intelligent middleware, and more

System integrator and solutions provider Data Elektronik is readying for the future with key innovations to its product portfolio. By leveraging decades of experience and close communication to its customers, the company provides unique, application-oriented solutions worldwide, in RFID hardware as well as in middleware.

RFID printer is able to print and encode on-metal labels

Data Elektronik‘s technical staff possesses the know-how to customise RFID hardware for specific application purposes. “Our portfolio now includes an RFID printer by Zebra, which we have modified to print and encode on-metal smart labels like the Schreiner DistaFerr SL, for example. The scope of its functions and the quality of the device are unmatched worldwide”, Dennis Pospich, Managing Director of Data Elektronik, says.

By introducing compact on-metal label printing, Data Elektronik is creating customer benefits, he adds: “Many users wish to be able to print on-metal labels with the top performance of high end label printers. Other providers are hesitant to offer comparable solutions to the market. Meanwhile, we can already share the practical experiences we have gathered from deploying our product in the field with customers.”

Dennis PospichDennis Pospich “There is a strong need for service and system integration. Digitization means that more and more data sources are being deployed and generate a wealth of information about products, machines, tools, containers, and other assets. The demand for platforms able to manage this quickly expanding amount of data is high.”

Broad RFID competencies create synergies for the customer

The company also possesses years of experience in modifying bespoke high-volume print and apply systems and can retrofit them for RFID use. For Dennis Pospich, the different competencies create important synergies that benefit the customer: “As a developer, Data Elektronik offers the matching software for print optimisation. Of course, we also use it ourselves. This is why we are able to act as a printing service provider as well, and to print RFID labels according to customer demands, whether they are special orders like onmetal labels or regular RFID tags.”

Hardware is part of the company‘s solutions portfolio

Despite its considerable hardware competency, the core of Data Elektronik in 2017 remains the solutions business. “For Data Elektronik, hardware is a part of our overall solutions portfolio,” Dennis Pospich explains his company‘s philosophy. “This is why we do not manufacture devices ourselves, but act as a system integrator. We are focused on our client‘s requirements. If the ideal solution for them requires a device that cannot be found on the market, we can offer customisation of existing devices. This leads to more precise, tailormade RFID solutions.”

Middleware has been developed according to users‘ needs

“Data Elektronik orients itself according to customer needs. The unequivocal signal the market is sending right now is a strong need for service and system integration. Digitization means that more and more data sources are being deployed and generate a wealth of information about products, machines, tools, containers, and other assets. The demand for platforms able to manage this quickly expanding amount of data is high,” Dennis Pospich says. This is why Data Elektronik is providing a possibility of connecting RFID devices, sensors, and other data sources with top-layer ERP systems via its new “RCOM Gateway” middleware.

As a holistic systems integrator, Data Elektronik was able to adapt the middleware to the concrete challenges users face. “Most middleware gathers events in a large data pool, then sorts and forwards them to a higher layer. This means millions of events have to be processed. Filtering them afterwards creates a lot of work for back end systems. Our middleware takes a different route: RCOM uses an interpreter, so that the customer can freely configure their filter criteria. This way, the user can program application logic directly into the middleware”, Pospich explains one of the key features.
