Some Like It Hot

Leveraging the advantages of automated mass manufacturing while customizing the product to client-specific wishes are the hallmarks of so-called Mass Customization. In order to keep track of all processes throughout the various necessary phases of production, RFID systems support product identification. For the use in high temperature environments, Swiss sensor specialist Contrinex offers specialised HF RFID transponders.

RFID creates visibility in automation and logistics

In numerous areas of automation and logistics, RFID technology with its sender-receiver system is providing the automatic and contactless identification of pre-products and products. To enable identification, the object in question is permanently fitted with electronic tags. Their memory contains a unique pre-defined number as well as a space to save additional object data with the help of a read/write device. With this, it becomes possible to track the history of an object or enter all information necessary to process it further.

The advantages of the RFID system compared to a traditional barcode system or laser marking lie in the readability of information without a direct line of sight contact with the read/write head and in enabling amending, modifying or deleting this information. The data is stored with the object itself in an RFID transponder. A contactless radio transmission ensures that the technology works even when the object or the tag are covered in dirt.

Resistant in all industrial environments

Swiss sensor manufacturer Contrinex supports tracking and tracing processes with its RFID systems. For the use in high temperature areas with up to 250 degrees Celsius, specialised resistant transponders suitable for high frequency systems have been developed. Typical areas of use for RFID systems are industrial processes in which products are manufactured in numerous different variations, but on the same production line. Examples include packaging lines in the food industry or paint lines in the automotive industry. The high environmental temperatures that commonly are a side effect of these manufacturing processes pose a special challenge to RFID systems. This concerns both the casing and the memory of the RFID transponder.
