Precise Data and Quick Availability Are a Must

With shopping concepts, such as Click and Collect, up to date and precise inventory data is more important than ever. Whether RFID only optimizes the availability of data in a process or throughout the whole value chain – with individually adapted solutions, large retail chains as well as small retailers can benefit from RFID, Steve Howells, European VP Sales, Merchandise Visibility at Checkpoint Systems, is convinced. It is all up to a clever solution.

Road Map Towards Business Case

„Offering solutions for the whole fashion industry supply chain, Checkpoint Systems already in the manufacturing process enables to create added value with accurate data through RFID“, Steve Howells explains. Taking advantage of source tagging, fashion retailers could not only save effort and costs that arise from mounting the label in the store. „The early data availability also leads to process and supply chain transparency from the very beginning of value creation.“ For the business case however it was not always necessary to expand RFID globally to all processes. „It is actually only up to a clever, individually adapted solution that helps the company to grow. That is why we always create an individual road map for our customers.“

Ordered, Paid, and Laid Off?

For Steve Howells, the use and merge of new shopping channels is a reason to be optimistic. „The market has been developing in a very positive way. We deliver about seven billion labels every year, worldwide. Companies, such as Checkpoint Systems, benefit from the companies' desire to have the data available as quickly and as precise as possible. That also goes along with new shopping concepts, such as Click and Collect: If the customer has already ordered and paid for an article he doesn't want to wait at the store for a long time, to take it with him. Systems for item localization make sure that ordered articles can be provided in no time. Besides, theft protection and inventory accuracy are crucial to prevent unnecessary losses and out of stock situations.“
