Retailers achieve over 98% stock accuracy and uplift sales without major investments

Nedap, a global leader in loss prevention and stock management technology for the retail sector, launches its new cloud-based software platform !D Cloud at the upcoming EuroCIS trade show, held in Düsseldorf from 24 - 26 February 2015. !D Cloud is the first solution in the market that enables retailers to significantly improve their on-shelf merchandise availability without major investments or changes to their existing IT infrastructure.

Cloud-based stock management

!D Cloud is specifically developed for retail applications, enabling retailers to quickly improve their in-store stock accuracy to over 98%. To achieve this, retailers only have to perform periodic cycle counts with handheld RFID readers. All collected RFID reads are send to the retailer’s private cloud via WiFi. !D Cloud then translates these data into stock information and generates a list highlighting the differences between the data from the retailer’s ERP system and the RFID cycle count. The application also gives an overview of all items that are available in the stock room, but not on the shelf.

Rob SchuurmanRob Schuurman“While RFID technology clearly has significant benefits for the merchandise availability in retail stores, many retailers experience in-store IT requirements and the software integration work as a major obstacle,” explains Rob Schuurman, Managing Director at Nedap Retail. “With our cloud-based software solution, retailers can start benefitting from the RFID deployment in their stores from day one.”

Improved merchandise availability

A better understanding of the actual on-shelf availability enables retailers to prevent out-of-stocks and increase sales. Empty shelves can be replenished faster and causes of stock differences, through losses or administrative errors, can be identified and dealt with more quickly. Nedap’s solution can be used for fast stocktaking only, but is also an ideal basis for a full RFID roll-out to trace merchandise from the moment it arrives in the store until it leaves the store.
