Quo Vadis, UHF? Global harmonization and safety regulations

Is an international standard for UHF RFID within reach? Representatives of AIM, RAIN RFID and other RFID stakeholders recently represented the RFID industry at a European Commission workshop on the efficient use of the 915-921 megahertz frequency band. Both organizations support Forum 4 on Developer Day of RFID & Wireless IoT tomorrow. AIM Europe, the RAIN RFID Alliance and CISC Semiconductor will discuss the status of the standardization process, the adoption rate for UHF RFID and the upcoming challenges for the RFID industry. The French Centre National RFID and the European Commission will examine the security aspects of RFID and the impact of the forthcoming European Data Protection Regulation.

Experience pioneering projects by leading researchers!

Forum 4 on Developer Day provides detailed insights into market-ready research projects. The Belgian research centre IMEC is presenting a newly developed plastic 12-bit RFID tag and reader system which allows readers with curved surfaces and more. The Technical University of Munich presents a method in which the radiation of a Wi-Fi router is analysed in order to produce three-dimensional images of the surroundings. The Fraunhofer IFF presents the findings of a realized RTLS project with LPWAN at Leipzig-Halle Airport. The Zurich University of Applied Sciences and the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -Prüfung provide passive RFID sensor solutions for the monitoring of reinforced concrete, enabling predictive maintenance in buildings.

On Developer Day, technology is key!

The Developer Day of RFID & Wireless IoT tomorrow on September 27 offers far more than just hardware: experience the state of the art from the perspective of manufacturers, providers, system integrators, experts and leading research institutes! Register now in order to miss none of the exclusive insights into the world of IoT technologies:

  • In Forum 1 – Technology & Hardware, experience RFID, NFC, and BLE technology from the manufacturers' perspective.
  • In Forum 2 – Wireless IoT, data architects, system experts and representatives of RAIN RFID as well as OPC UA explain how you can bring your processes and business models into the IoT.
  • In Forum 3 – Software & System Integration, gain insight from software providers and system integrators on the things all successful digitalisation projects have in common.
