Two new GCF work items. Tests become part of GCF certification criteria.

The mobile network standardization body 3GPP introduced two new features – PSM (Power Saving Mode) and eDRX (extended Discontinuous Reception) – minimizing power consumption of IoT devices and extending their battery power up to ten years. In IoT applications such as container tracking, intelligent meters, or agriculture sensors, the devices do not need to send or receive data continuously.

Oliver Wruck, Director MNTS at Comprion, explains: “Being an important member of the mobile ecosystem, we felt the need to test the UICC interface for devices that support PSM and eDRX in order to prevent unpleasant surprises when the devices go live in mobile networks.“

Shortest test execution times plus the reuse for EMVCo, NFC Forum and ISO testing set this solution apart

Test tool provider Comprion is proud to announce that their EMVCo conformance test system for contactless POS terminals has received the Letter of Qualification for the new EMVCo version 3.0.

What is EMVCo 3.0?

More and more mobile phones and wearables are used for mobile payments. To adapt the testing equipment to the new payment situations, EMVCo demands new hardware and new test procedures, for instance, the use of three PICC reference antennas instead of one.

“In the end, all contactless payment options – card, smartphone, or wearable – must be globally reliable”, Jahnich clarifies. EMVCo 3.0 will be introduced in test labs in Q4 2018 and becomes mandatory in 2019.

COMPRION is launching a new test system that eases the introduction of eSIM and RSP technology for enterprises

Many MNOs believe that in three to five years there will be hardly any devices holding traditional SIMs. To smoothen the switch to eSIM and the appertaining mechanisms, COMPRION has developed a new test system that is available at once.

Using the new RSP Consumer Devices Platform, service providers, network operators, and manufacturers of servers, consumer devices, and eUICCs can test their real components against a simulated, GSMA-conforming system and thus make sure that remote SIM provisioning (RSP) works without hiccups.

The newly published GSMA SGP.24 RSP Compliance Process V2.0 now requires functional testing by industry certification schemes GCF, PTCRB, and GlobalPlatform. These certifications schemes are referencing validated Comprion RSP test benches for conformance testing. Comprion were the first to offer validated tests for the industry.

A great selection of NFC and ISO triggers, individual envelope signal calculation, and NFC/ISO measurement features facilitate the evaluation of analog NFC signals and consequently the development and integration of NFC-enabled devices. The SESAMES Award-winning software for design validation of NFC-enabled devices – Design Validation Center – has been extended by another unique feature: an NFC oscilloscope. It is immediately available with Design Validation Center R1.1.

Comprion introduces their new product line for NFC-development testing that helps identifying and resolving error causes in NFC communication at an early stage. Test solution provider Comprion has announced the launch of a new product line for NFC testing, the CL Development Line. It can be used for validating the interface design, for preparing the certification, for functional testing, and for verifying interoperability.

Testing consumer devices in terms of their RSP functionality including SM-DS becomes part of the GCF mobile type approval certification program: The validation of the Comprion GSMA SGP.23 RSP Device Test Bench activated the new work item GCF WI-276.

The GSMA – as the driving force and specification body for eSIM and RSP functionality – has developed a series of specifications with the aim of making the eSIM technology and the relevant services globally interoperable and reliable. GCF is one of GSMA’s industry partners providing certification for the eSIM technology using GSMA’s defined tests.

Thanks to the GlobalPlatform qualification of Comprion eUICC Consumer Devices card tests, test labs and card manufacturers are able to certify their eUICCs for the GSMA eSIM ecosystem.
