A transport ticket that refuses to get validated: a very sensitive subject which can make easily derail the customer satisfaction.

When the rail line company in charge of the commuter trains in the Orlando area found out that a large number of validations were problematic, it looked for a new supplier to create more reliable wireless RFID tickets. Therefore, AXEM Technology, expert in RFID products, has been naturally consulted.

Alba Thyment uses NFC to market and protect its cosmetics brand Alba 1913

When pharmaceutical and cosmetics manufacturer Alba Thyment entered the Asian market with the cosmetics brand Alba 1913 in 2015, one central question called for an answer: how can products be protected against counterfeiting? This was followed by the question of how customers can verify the authenticity of products as simply as possible. After all, like other sectors, the cosmetics industry is heavily affected by counterfeit products.

Alba Thyment decided to use NFC chips in the packaging of their product, demonstrating what efficient marketing with simultaneous brand protection can look like.

A customer card increases loyalty: the fact that 98,000 have been issued with RFID speaks for itself

The “swa KAROCARD” currently provides an allin- one discount card for the people of Augsbury, Germany, to use for shopping, public transport or cashless payments at the FC Augsburg stadium. Introduced in 2003, the customer loyalty card, which has been running on RFID-technology since 2008, is a great success, with more than 98,000 cards issued. The product has continued to develop: additional applications have been regularly implemented, such as bike rental or e-charging stations from 2010 or discounted admission tickets to the municipal baths from 2014.

NFL teams profit from real-time information based on an active RFID solution by Zebra Technologies, in order to take them on the road to victory

An RFID solution that allows the capture and identification of individual players, as well as the visualisation of the plays in real-time during the match – which has been a wish not only of numerous club and association officials, coaches, and players, but also referees, and spectators. Zebra Technologies have now turned this dream into a reality. In the 2015 season, the solution from Zebra was installed at all 31 NFL stadiums in the US, the Wembley Stadium for the International Series, and the Aloha Stadium in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl. During more than 330 matches, from the pre-season to the Super Bowl in February 2016, all movements will be recorded.

The city of Stuttgart pioneers a way of accessing transport and leisure services and purchasing in Germany

Anyone who travels regularly by public transport requires a ticket. Anyone who wants to use a car-sharing vehicle requires a card, and if you want to pay you need a card, too. And with each card the thickness of your wallet increases. Working with numerous partners, the city of Stuttgart has adopted an ambitious project to enable a single smart card to make payments and access transport and other services – this has been developed by the company Exceet for the Smart City project. Fabian Rau of Exceet talked to “RFID im Blick” about the aims of the project, the functionality of the application and the future potential of a newly developed security token.
