Many labels, one solution

A constituent element of the science project RFID based Automotive Network (RAN) was to check which hardware is required to reliably detect vehicles with different transponder positions in logistic processes. BLG, Daimler, Opel, Siemens and BIBA performed tests identifying different vehicles passing differently configured RFID gates to find the most economical solution.

Wind energy plants: engine pods at the test facility

The Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES) engineers the first large scale test stand for complete engine pods of wind energy plants in Germany by the end of 2014. Provided with ten megawatts, propulsion power manufacturers will be enabled to check and optimize their plant concepts. „Developing wind energy plants requires large amounts of measurement data at very high clock rates. RFID could provide developers with new options for measurement data acquisition“ explains Andreas Ruhle, scientist at the Fraunhofer IWES in the interview with „RFID im Blick“.

Focus on quality and shipment safety

Wiring Systems for the Automobile Industry

Modern cars and trucks have hundreds of electronic construction parts. Those have to be reliably provided with energy – that's the cable harness' central function. The automobile supplier Kromberg & Schubert produces cable harnesses for various customers in its Tunesian facility, most of all manufacturers from the premium sector. For a 100 percent guarantee of delivering the right cable harness to the right recipient, the supplier decided to use an RFID based shipment packaging control.
