Successful premier at the trade fair booth of „RFID im Blick“: For the first time the magazine presented the English Product Guide on RFID | NFC| Smart Cards from November 19 to 21, 2013 at the Cartes Secure Connexions Event in Paris to an international audience. For three days the magazine was present with its trade fair display at one of the biggerst European events in the ID and Card sector. Already at noon the first copies of the new Product Guide at the press counter in the entrance area were given away.

Challenges for a generic NFC platform in order to achieve series maturity for use in automobiles

Since 2005 many BMW research developments have been focussing on NFC already. From the beginning the technology was examined from two different points: On the one hand practical developments such as the „key of the future“ were used to demonstrate how NFC-based solutions result in practical user benefits. On the other hand a cross series NFC infrastructure was developed at the same time which can be used for series production. Currenty an automotive suited platform ready for series production is being initiated at BMW. The objective is a generic platform which can be expanded by optional functions in the future.
