Expansion of Girogo introduction

In July 2013, the Heide Park Resort in Soltau started to allow all visitors to pay contactlessly using the Girocard's Girogo function. Thus the Lower Saxony amusement park is part of the further pilot phase expansion in order to introduce Girogo which is supposed to be expanded by a new project of the Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft to further develop contactless payment starting from the end of 2014 onwards.

Great benefit for small traders

Up to now, the expansion of contactless payment systems in Germany has been progressing slowly. Exceet Group covers the whole value chain within the cards industry and expands its area of competences

The Swiss technology company Exceet with publicly listed holding company in Luxemburg grows due to company takeovers. At the beginning of 2011 the group, which was known as AEM Technologies back then, united ten companies. In the second quarter of 2013 Exceet Group includes 15 individual companies in Switzerland, Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Germany. Exceet's turnover grew by 10.7 percent in 2012 to 188.8 million Euros, achieved by solution sales in the fields of medical technology, industry and security. The latter is the focus of Exceet Card, known as Winter AG until the beginning of 2013, comprising smart card based access, loyalty, and banking applications. With its broad scope of comptences Exceet covers the whole value chain. To also meet the future market requirements, the company plans to expand competences and locations whilst practicing rationalization and lean management.

Contactless payment in retail

The biggest pilot project of the Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft in Germany was initiated in April 2012 with girogo. Eight big retail chains already support the contactless payment function based on NFC. Among them are the drug store chain dm, the perfumery Douglas and the grocer Edeka, but also small and medium-sized companies such as bakeries.
