RFID tomorrow 2016

RFID tomorrow – the event that is unique throughout Europe – opens on September 19 at the Van der Valk Airport Hotel in Dusseldorf.

The concept of RFID tomorrow is unique throughout Europe. It is unique not only because it has become a can't-miss event for everyone interested in IoT, Auto-ID, RTLS and process optimisation; it is unique because of the broad range it covers: participants from all over the world, large and small scale RFID applications, holistic and highly specialised RFID solutions providers. In just two days, participants can learn about the state of the technology, hear presentations about successful RFID solutions and experience RFID technology being demonstrated live in a SpeedLab. In addition, RFID tomorrow offers the chance to establish useful personal contacts, on the exhibition floor as well as during the rich after-show program.

Although more than five billion UHF (RAIN) tags were sold worldwide in 2015, NXP understands that the technology needs to be developed to meet future needs, and to significantly advance the IoT.

The times has passed when RFID applications were used only in production and logistics, far away from the interests of consumers. RFID technology is increasingly entering peoples’ lives around the globe: in smart homes, or when shopping or making payments. For NXP, the global market leader for RFID ICs, there are clear signals that security issues are increasingly coming to the fore. Ralf Kodritsch thinks it is important to listen carefully to which market requires which specific technical solution, in order to best advise users.

In an interview with “RFID im Blick Global“, the Director of the Global Report and Segment Manager for RFID Solutions and his colleague Brintha Koether, Senior Director & GM Payments report on the challenges of developing the right solutions for the changing market demands and for different country-specific needs.

Performance improvement demonstrated at the customer instead of working in laboratories

Reliable and stable applications – this is the goal of every RFID or NFC integration. However, which tag dovetails which reader? Which tag performs best at the planned application? CISC will answer these and many more questions at the RFID tomorrow. “Our measurement tools take effect before the actual integration. Plus, they are perfectly suited to evaluate the quality of applications that are already in operation. Using measurement technology of CISC Semiconducter, it is possible to find bugs or to determine not yet used capacity in terms of the reading range”, tells Josef Preishuber-Pflügl, Executive Vice-President, CTO and Business Manager RFID+NFC at CISC Semiconductor.
