“What good is the most innovative technology if it cannot communicate with other systems? Digitization and the IoT are a strong influence on the creation of future industrial processes today and thus generate a lot of uncertainty for companies. But even today, there are mature, standardized solutions,” underlines Stefan Hoppe, Global Vice President, OPC Foundation.

“In order to continue integrating sustainable and forwards compatible Auto ID solutions, there have to be reliable international standards. This is why the topic has to be on top of the agenda. We should not commit the error of resting on the laurels of our accomplishments, but instead continue to work on new standards together,” affirms Frithjof Walk, Chairman of AIM Germany. “A reliable deployability of technology is only possible on the basis of international standardization which is also suited to new challenges.”
